What do you do if a dog attacks you or a loved one?
- Get immediate medical attention. Dog bites can lead to serious injuries or infections if not treated. If you cannot get to a doctor, dial 911 and take the ambulance to the ER.
- Identify the dog that attacked you. For dog bites and dog attacks it is important to identify the dog so you can identify the owner of the dog or to what house the dog belongs.
- Report the attack. Call Sacramento’s animal control, Sacramento’s sheriffs or police. Be sure to report the type of dog, the injuries and any information you have.
- Take pictures. Take pictures of the dog. Take pictures of all ripped, torn or bloody clothing. Take pictures of the scene. Take pictures of all visible injuries. Document the injuries with daily pictures.
